There is something about routines that is familiar and comforting. They are grounding and keep us present in our lives. When we have routine things seem to be easier. There have been seasons where I have really consistent routines and rhythms and seasons where I can’t seem to get a routine for the life of me. Maybe it is just me, but once I have let a routine fall by the wayside it seems almost impossible to get back to the routine. Once upon a time ago I had a solid rhythm of blogging and writing several times a week. Somewhere that got lost. This past few weeks I have been working to find out what it means to get back to basics. I thought perhaps I can get some routines back in place. I thought maybe it will not be hard to get back to the basics. I was wrong. I have a goal to create some sort of weekly rhythm of blogging. I am not there yet, but at least this time it hasn’t been almost a year in between posts.
What does it take to get a new routine? For me it means that I keep trying to get the routine going. That I take small wins and keep pushing for the routine. It means pushing through the distractions and things that are keeping me from getting back to basics and the routines I know work for me.
What routines are you trying to get back into? What routines do you have that are helpful?
