Sometimes we read a book and learn one thing and then we read the same book again and we learn a completely different concept or something new sticks out. As part of a spiritual leadership development program I am involved in we are reading Seven Realities for Experiencing God: How to Know and Do the Will of God which you have probably seen me post about a few times. What I have found is each week I am learning so many new things, and there are tons on new underlines throughout the book (I was a participant in the spring and now am a table facilitator). This week one thing that stuck out to me was this quote below.
When we expect Him to speak to us only in predicable ways we forget that God is much more complex than our perception of Him (Seven Realities for Experiencing God: How to Know and Do the Will of God
).
This made me stop for a couple minutes and think. What are the areas in which I expect that God will speak to me in a certain way. Are there ways that I think that God cannot speak? Do I feel the need to keep God in a box? I know those are some heavy questions too ask right? Now, I did not feel like I have been keeping Him in a box, but now, I am much more aware to expect Him to speak in ways in new ways.
One other thing that was a reminder was “when God speaks nothing remains the same.” This reminded me that God’s word, changes lives, and hearts and people in ways that are unimaginable. When God encounters people their lives change, we are never the same. Where is God speaking in your own life? Are you listening to hear what He is saying? Are you looking for God to speak in unpredictable ways? Let’s Chat!
