I don’t know about you but one of the things I know about myself is that I am not a risk-taker. I am not one to try crazy things that have some risk involved on a regular basis. Any of you fellow non-risk takers out there? So I am sure you have the same gut feeling when God calls you to do something that is slightly crazy and incredibly risky right? So then I am listening to an audio book yesterday called “In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day” by Mark Batterson and I start to feel that feeling in my gut.
Quit living as if the purpose of life is to safely arrive at death- Mark Batterson
This questions all of my thoughts on how I live and what I choose to do. In the book Mark Batterson talks about Beneniah who chased a lion into a pit on a snowy day and wins the fight with the lion. He described being a lion chaser, and as I heard those words (gotta love a good audiobook) I felt that gut feeling that God was about to change things for me. The dreams that I have had over the years for various things came in my mind after I finished listening the book and as I continued on my drive (it was a long drive) I realized that I could choose to let those dreams die and not fulfill the call that God has given me or I could be a lion chaser and take the risk and seize the opportunity.
I was then reminded of a quote from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Safe? Don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Of course he isn’t safe… but… he’s GOOD… He’s the King.
So the thought crosses my mind, just because something is risky or unsafe doesn’t negate that it is good and it is needed. If we never risked anything, we would never dream because our dreams our risky right? What are you dreaming about? Is there a lion God has called you to chase? Are you ready to run after it?
Wow! this post came right on time as I am going through all that you find yourself in. I have always been a dreamer but never a risk taker, most times I am overshadowed by so much fear and doubt… I must say it hasnt really been easy but I will go with that voice in my head saying “I will go with you” and I believe that voice to be God. Thanks for sharing this post, really means alot to me…
Thank you for your comment! I am glad that the post means a lot to you! God is definitely going to go with you!
