The Nations are calling…

You know that feeling, urging to do something. You know like Moana and being drawn to the ocean. Over the years I have had this urge that draws me, speaks to me and drives me slightly crazy. Maybe you know what I mean, when the thoughts can’t stop, and distract you from other things. When you allow your mind to wander, it heads straight there to that thought or in my case the countries and their needs. I love what I do for my work here, and my mind at times wanders and dreams of how this can be transformed and how we can impact lives here in America.  Recently I had a song in my mind… specifically this part.

Hear the sound
The sound of the nations calling
Hear the sound
The sound of the fatherless crying
Who will go for us
Who will shout to the corners
Of the earth
That Christ is King

We Speak to Nations- Israel Houghton

Who will go? Who will speak to the nations? I don’t know about you, but my first response is I will go. My heart is drawn to them. Even when I am not paying attention, it still comes to mind. I was writing on the floor of our community center the past weekend, which is a tradition when we dedicate a new building before we play down the carpet, and I had planned on writing a verse out of Psalms about being a tree planted by the water, but when I went to look it up on my phone, I found myself looking Psalm 2:8 “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.”  So I wrote that verse because there was a reason I found myself there right? This verse was one of my favorite verse in high school, along with Luke 10:2-3  “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.  Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” Even then, my mind was focused on the nations.

What does this mean now? I don’t know exactly what it means yet for me. I know that I will be aware of opportunities and will be praying.  What is speaking to you? What is drawing you? Let’s chat!
